New Year’s Eve: the highlights of television


ABC projects again new year’s eve Sydney celebrations this Friday night with fireworks at 9pm and midnight and a concert of Australian favorites.

Nine screens Melbourne party to viewers in Victoria.

There are also 2021 news specials, music specials, movie nostalgia, and SBS’s annual treat. Dinner for one.

9:15 p.m. Concert
From 9:15 p.m. the perfect soundtrack for your New Year’s Eve begins. As part of the festivities, we’ll be saying thank you to our frontline workers and gifting two Australian icons, the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the ABC, a happy 90e birthday. Broadcast live from the stunning Sydney Opera House location, the all-star lineup includes Tina Arena, Missy Higgins, Casey Donovan, hip hop sensation Genesis Owusu, Budjerah, Gordi, Tyne James Organ, the revolutionary electronic music duo Shouse , as well as country music favorites Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey.

12h Midnight fireworks
At midnight, and in collaboration with the City of Sydney, the night sky will light up with a live fireworks display as we say a final goodbye to 2021.

Countdown to the midnight fireworks display from 11:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31, with hosts Catriona Rowntree and Clint Stanaway giving viewers the best seat in town at the City of Melbourne’s New Year Day before 2021 celebrations. Australian comedy troupe Sooshi Mango will join Australian electronic music duo Shouse for an evening of performances and laughs as Melbourne news legend Peter Hitchener reflects on the best and worst of 2021. Reporters roving Seb Costello, Allan Raskall and Madeline Slattery will be present on the ground in the city’s celebration areas in Docklands, Flagstaff Gardens, Alexandra Gardens and Treasury Gardens – giving viewers a frontline ticket to Melbourne’s biggest party.
