Sights, Sounds and Social: Week 12

0

Remember when Patrick Levels of the Montreal Alouettes reminded everyone how close his team was to a major breakthrough in results?

Yeah, here we are.

William Stanback was simply unstoppable out of backfield in 2021, Week 12 being no exception as the No.31 scolded for 203 yards!

And now, up to the air attack, with the leader of the receiving yards, Eugene Lewis adding two more touchdowns on Friday night!

With the decisive 37-16 win, the Alouettes are now the best in the East Division, and with their dominance on both the offensive and defensive end of the ball (hello, Money Hunter), all signs point to another exciting streak in “La Belle Province ”.

West runs through Winnipeg

It’s the year of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers: there’s no official doubt.

While last week Winnipeg was the first to land a playoff berth, in Week 12 they officially won the West Division.

A bossy 45-0 victory over the BC Lions from IG Field over the weekend locked first place in the West for Winnipeg as they will now host the West final on December 5.

From a simple content point of view, any reference to the “old school” is thankfully welcomed around these parts.

When you win an eight-man game in a row this season, why not have a little fun.

Now for the highlights of the Blue Bombers:

KENNY LAWLER DOES IT AGAIN!

Winnipeg owner Brady Oliveira also had a night to remember, recording his first career CFL touchdown!

Keep this football in a special place, Brady!

Maybe the turning point in this one, Willie Jefferson did what we’ve seen a few times: create turnovers and make sure they end in six points!

The dominant assault for the Blue Bombers would only continue …. Enter Janarion Grant, aka “Speedy Grant”.

Until December 5, we don’t expect much else to change for Winnipeg to close the 2021 season, as they continue to prove themselves in 2021.

This is the Jeremiah we know!

It was the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Ottawa REDBLACKS that kicked off our triple header on Saturday in Week 12.

Slowly but surely, Jeremiah Masoli returns to his old self with Black and Gold, throwing for two touchdowns into the air against RED and BLACK defense.

Bo makes history

He’s definitely that guy.

Pass Smilin ‘Hank: Bo Levi Mitchell is now the Calgary Stampeders all-time leader in assists completed.

Just one more accolade for an exceptional career, and one of the best ever in Calgary.

“Rapid barking”

Because dogs doing amazing things are lightning rods on social media, the Calgary Stampeders had quite a show at halftime in Week 12 from McMahon Stadium:

The third meeting between the Stampeders and the Roughriders was played on the wire, but it was this daring call on the third and Kyran Moore’s goal for the Greens and Whites that would have been enough to ultimately hold Calgary back:

With the win, the Roughriders retain exclusive possession of second place in the West Division at the start of Week 13.

The implications and drama of the playoffs only increase with each week to come… Stay tuned, CFL fans!
