South Carolina: sightings of big cats reported

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is helping officials in two counties investigate calls about the presence of big cats. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says the reports are from the Valley Ridge Road area in the Sandy Run area. “The Sheriff is asking everyone in the area to exercise extreme caution and call any confirmed sightings to 911,” the post said. WYFF News 4 contacted the Department of Natural Resources to see if it was involved in the research. Greg Lucas said there have been no confirmed reports, but the department is assisting authorities in Calhoun and Lexington counties on reported sightings. He said the area where the sightings were reported is near the county line. Lucas said the department has law enforcement, a game warden and biological personnel in the area to assist with reported sightings.
