It’s Day 2 at TBT and we have two Regional Semi-Finals in the Omaha and Rucker Park areas. In the Omaha area, he went chalk in the quarterfinals except for a 3-6 Big 5 upset over the Ex-Pats. Additionally, in the Rucker Park area, all of the top seeds won their quarterfinal matches, but 3 of the 4 matches were decided by 4 points or less. Let’s take a look at these regional semi-finals that are scheduled for today and the best TBT bets! Check out my overview of TBT support here!
(1) Gutter Cats -6.5 vs. (4) Always Us
The Gutter Cats beat The Cru 88-78 in the first round. They were led by their guards, QJ Peterson (19 points) and Tyrese Rice (16 points). In fact, the Gutter Cats shot the ball very well as a team, including 12/25 from 3. Meanwhile, opponents Always Us rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat the Jackson Underdawgs in a 79-78 thriller. For Always Us, it was Jacob Young who carried the offensive charge with 27 points.
This game will come down to guard play and the guards on the team that play best will eventually advance. Also, I like the backcourt experience and firepower of Rice and Peterson to get the Gutter Cats to the Omaha Area Finals. I love this game as the best TBT bet!
Pick: Alley Cats -6.5
(2) Arkansas Team -1.0 vs. (3) Omaha Blue Crew
Team Arkansas was able to fight a defensive battle against DaGuys STL. They struggled to make shots in the first round, where they were only able to shoot 38% from the field as a team, including only 3/15 from 3. However, they managed to get the win by kicking the ball to inside Hunter. Mickelson, who had 20 points and 12 rebounds. On the other side, Omaha Blue Crew used a balanced offensive offense to take the win behind 10 different guys who logged minutes and scored.
This match will be a tightly contested match between two evenly matched teams. The Omaha Blue Crew will have the home court advantage in their corner. However, I like that the Arkansas team found a way to make a few more shots and advance on the home team to advance to the Finals.
Pick: Team Arkansas -1.0
Rucker Park area:
(1) YGC -6.5 v (4) HBC United
YGC held off a tough-minded Chicago Hoopville team for a first-round win at Rucker Park. YGC was led by Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who scored 26 points including 11/13 from the FT line. In the other game, it was HBCUnited advancing, fending off a late Skip To My Lou rally. In fact, HBCUnited had five different guys score in double digits. They were trailed by Brandon Tabb, who scored 14 points.
This will mark Day 2 at Rucker Park and both teams will now have a game under their belt. I like that region favorites YGC played better on day two and wore HBCUnited en route to the Rucker Park region final.
(2) Americana for Autism -5.0 vs (6) Big 5
Americana for Autism stood up to an upset and determined Peacock Nation team. They were led by Nigel Johnson, who had 14 points and match winner Elam to qualify. Also, the other matchup was the Big 5 which bowled the Ex-Pats up behind an incredible team shooting performance. The Big 5 shot 79% from the field and 77% from 3 behind 21 from Ramon Galloway Sr.
This game will come down to the main guard game between Johnson and Galloway. Finally, I love that the Philadelphia Guards kept their momentum going with another upset win to advance to the Finals as the TBT best bet!
