A woman was left “in disbelief” after spotting an animal that allegedly looked like a “black panther” in Wirral.
The woman was walking her dog around 4 p.m. Wednesday when she saw the animal on the promenade in New Brighton.
She shared what happened in a community group on Facebook in hopes of finding others who had seen the animal and knew what it was.

She said: “I didn’t have time to take a picture because I was just in disbelief and honestly a little scared.”
In response to his post, other residents said they saw similar reports in the Bidston Hill and Irby neighborhoods in Wirral.
In September, ECHO reported that a man was walking his dog on Whitefield Common when he claimed to have seen a “big black cat” near trees.
Jon Devoy reported the sighting to Puma Watch North Wales, a group set up to document the sightings and raise awareness about suspected big cats.
He said: âI was walking the dog, I had no idea that something was going on because the dog was acting as usual.
âI saw a tall black figure in the tree line, maybe the size of a fairly large dog. I stopped to get a better look and could see quite clearly that it was a big cat.
“I know you’re supposed to keep your cool in these situations, so I slowly walked away while keeping an eye on it and it followed into the treeline.”
âMy dog ââwas oblivious to all of this luckily I was near the exit so I walked out of the park and made it home safely.
âThe experience was very scary and I will now be walking my dog ââin very residential areas.
âI thought I was going crazy because I didn’t think the UK had big cats, but I went google and found this site which proved me right.â
Two weeks earlier, another person also claimed to have spotted a mysterious creature with a description of a “big cat,” just a two-minute walk from where Jon claimed to have seen the recent sighting.
Previous big cat sightings on the Wirral also include Willaston, Prenton, Bidston Hill, and Burton Woods.
